Stearin, derived from triglycerides of stearic acid, is an odorless, white powder. The term “stearin” refers to the solid component of oil or fat made by partial purification of fats through wet fractionation, separating stearin-rich material with a higher melting point from the liquid.

Applications:

The use of stearin as an ingredient serves as a fat source in specific analogues of animal-based products, acting as a substitute for animal fats and vegetable oils in certain foods. Shea Stearin is mainly used as an additive to blend with Hard Palm Mid Fraction to create Cocoa Butter Equivalents (CBE).
